Isolated Tarballs Continue Moving East Along the Gulf
Early Saturday morning more reports of isolated nickel to fifty cent sized tarballs coming ashore in FL. These reports have come from as far east as Laguna Beach, which just borders the Panama City Beach city limits.
Crews in the area have been deploying boom in St. Andrews Bay and the pass that is the inlet to the bay, in a effort to keep oil from entering. Due to the tides to the boom that is placed in the pass will have to be removed when the tides are going out of the bay and replaced when tides are returning.
Tar Balls Wash Ashore in Bay County
Well, it has been confirmed that tar balls from the Deepwater Horizon Spill have come ashore on the West End of Panama City Beach, FL. Around 8:00 PM late Friday evening is when the first call came in that the tar balls were seen in the Hollywood and Carillon beaches area.
More updates to come after some probing later this morning.

Gulf Coast Oil Spill
Our Beaches in N. W. FL are safe for now. Although the oil continues to spill and the amount of damage that it will have on our Eco system is still unknown at this time. We can just hope that effects are minimal. As the areas around the coastline are experiencing cancellations of hotel reservations and restaurants are worried that there will not be seafood for their customers. It would be devastating to the economic wellness of any area that could be in the oil's path.
So if you are planning a trip to N. W. FL Beaches this summer, don't cancel just yet. All of the area businesses recognize that if the oil does hit that they will need to let travellers cancel without penalties or charges. So we plead with you to come on and have fun, because if the oil does come after your visit, we want to remember the good times before.
